Philips Electronics To Set Standards

In the age of cut-throat competition for the consumer's pocketbook, the quest for consumer electronics manufacturers to lower their costs is an obsession. Seeking to lower production costs often means going to countries with little or no labor or environmental standards. Philips, however, appears to have the desire to limit such practices by announcing a program of minimum employment and environmental standards that its own suppliers and sub-contractors are expected to adhere to.
