Durabrand has introduced a portable DVD player with a twist; it comes with two screens. What's the point? The dual screen feature allows two persons sitting a short distance away to watch the same video, or one person to watch a DVD while another person can watch a camcorder video. dont buy Durabrand products..it doesnt work after 90 days..and they dont offer warranty over 90 days..
DURABRAND PRODUCTS DO NOT WORK BEYOND 90 DAYS. TAKE MY ADVICE, BUY A BETTER PRODUCT. DONT BURN YOURSELVES WITH THESE PRODUCTS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE WHO WRITE HERE THAT THEY ARE GOOD. TRUST ME, I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE THE 93RD DAY AND WALMART WILL NOT REPLACE OR REFUND AS THEY HAVE A 90 DAY POLICY. ITS WALMART’S BRAND! AND THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO GIVE WARRANTY OVER 90DAYS. WHY LISTEN TO ALL THESE JOKERS ABOVE WHEN THE MANUFACTURER THEMSELVES ARE NOT CONFIDENT OF GIVING A WARRANTY OVER 90DAYS??? DONT BELIEVE ME? GO AHEAD, SUIT YOURSELVES AND EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF.
DO NOT buy Venturer Portable DVD players, I bought my son one and it was on charge over night we woke up and it had melted… Completely ruined… Waste of money.
This doesnt work I bout one for my daughter and 4 month later it doent work.
I purchased the Durabrand Dual Screen Portable DVD Player with Car Kit. What a piece of junk. I don’t think it even lasted the full 90 days. Pray for me as I begin my letter writing campaign. This stinks. We work too hard for our money to be ripped off like this. Walmart should be ashamed!
Durabrand is CRAP!! Don’t buy it.
AMEN sisters and brothers. We bought one, it’s pure crapola.
Durabrand stinks. After 21 days it stopped working and I wouldn’t recommend this brand name to anyone..
i agree with you all, my screens are turning black and you can see only part of the movie. do not waste your money
This item sucks. It it brought after 90 days. Please do not buy this product? Walmart has gone down…..
This product is a total peice of CRAP I definately agree. I whis I had seen this website before I bought it!!!!!
Does anyone know the website for Venturer?
I bought this product around November 28th of 2006 and already one of the screens does not come on at all. I will be returning this soon. If I have any problems they will hear from me.
I have to agree with all of the previous reviewers…we bought this without doing the resaarch first. What a mistake! It worked for 3 weeks, until one screen, then the second screen went black. The picture never came back again. When I tried to return it to Walmart, they refused to issue a refund because it was over 14 days. I didn’t want to exchange it for a new one, or be bothered getting new one under the warranty. DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT!
LISTEN TO REDIFFER, I bought two of their DVD portable players and both of them crapped out on me. My emails don’t get answered and you’ll be on there support line until the end of time. Their products suck!!
This is the best money scam I have ever seen and all done under a coporate blanket, I’m in the wrong business!
I have to agree with all of you. My wife bought the dual screen for our kids, they worked fine for a while then the main player would not recognize the DVDs ( even brand new ones). She bought it at Walmart, and yes after 90 days it was too bad, so sad. I even called an electronics repair place to see if I could get it fixed. They told me the it was not worth the money to repair it, that they were pieces of CRAP!! Walmart already had our money and were not helpful at all with any sort of help or advice.
im looking for the warrenty number to call i bought a dvd player for my 5 yeay old daughter for christmas last year. She was going to watch a dvd the other night and her dvd player wouldnt recegonice neither one of her dvds can someone give me the number to call in canada
I bought 3 of the duraband portable dvd player’s off of Wal Mart’s web site. That i paid extra for the shipping and handle. The first day that i received these in the mail one of them did not work at all.I tried taking it back to get a refund or do a store exchange and they would not let me i had the receit from where i had ordered it online and still could not help me just told me to call the 800# that was on back of these players and let me tell you they do not know what they h@#$ they are even doing.i am telling everybody that these are a waste of money and would not but these for anything or anyone
We have a durabrand portable dvd for our son. After 90 days, we noticed the dvd wouldn’t keep a charge. We thought it was the cord. we bought a new one but found out it was the plug in port. It can not be fixed, and the company will not honor it. We will not buy another one. It is ridiculus that you spend all this money on products companies won’t stand behind.
CONTACT THE WALLMART CORPORATE OFFICE THEIR NUMBER IS 1800 9256278 IF EVERYONE CALLS THEY WILL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!! IM IRATE AT THIS
Yes, I a bought a Venturer Portable DVD player from Walmart and it broke in 31 days. Now we know how Walmart got so rich…on the backs of the little person…selling disposable crap. Just Say NO to disposable products that will end up in garbage dumps around the world!
mine didnt come with the charger, we never used it so when we finally did (about a year or so later) and the charge it already had wore out thats when we realized it didnt have a charger, what can we do we dont have a receipt it was a gift:(
I got one this past christmas and around the third week of using it, it would freeze for a couple of seconds and it just kept getting worse and worse until the entire screen would turn purple. Then you would have to completely restart the movie. Now, only half of the screen works, the rest is multulered in one part and black on the other part. DON”T BUY
We bought one and after the 1st week we were chargeing it and it melted also!!! Fire hazard not safe for children!!!
hi! i guess ive been lucky. i have bought 3 venturer dvd players and the all worked fine until just this week when one died.it was made in 2006,so 3 years use for the 50.00 i spent was a good deal to me. sorry for those whos players didnt work as well. as for me im waiting on walmarts day after thanksgiving sale!!
I BOUGHT A DURABRAND PORTABLE DVD FROM WALMART. AFTER TWO MONTHS THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. NO ONE SELLS THE BATTERY PACK, INCLUDING WALMART WHERE I BOUGHT THE DVD. I HAVE SENT SEVERAL EMAILS WITH NO RESPONSE. I’M VERY DISAPPOINTED.
After lots of looking around, I purchased a DURABRAND DUAL SCREEN PORTABLE DVD PLAYER from Walmart. This was in February of 2008 and by the summer it stopped working.
How disappointing, who can afford to spend $169 and have it stop working in 6 months!!
GARBAGE, PURE GARBAGE!! I agree, now I see how Walmart got so rich!!
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
I bought my Venturer Dual DVD player for my 2 children in October of 2007. The piece of junk hasn’t worked for almost that long. I have had to wiggle wires and everything trying to keep it working. The first jar of my van, they go out again. Don’t recommend at all. I havent’ even been able to find a 1800# to call them.
I am really surprised at these comments. Ours was stolen from the car 2 days ago. I was online now looking for another one just like it. I bought one from Wal-Mart online about 5 years ago and NEVER had any problem with it until about 2 weeks ago. I had a problem with one of the cords to one of the monitors but it was working fine when the crackhead stole it. We never used the battery pack but kept it plugged into the car plug all the time.
I bought the durabrand portable dvd player with 2 screens, game controll, and car kit. It hasn’t worked since the second time. It doesn’t read disks and if it does it skips so bad you can’t watch it. its terrible. I am very disappointed.
The ventura DVD player was a Christmas gift for my son. It arrived yesterday, I took it out of the box to try it out. The DVDs played blurry, the sound was either LOUD or silent, the screen flopped over. I took it back to Wal-mart for credit on a better brand.
PLEASE, Don’t waste your money
I have a durabrand model pdv-702. It’s about 2 years old and works well. I need now to find the audio and video cables to connect it to our larger TV. they should have come with the player but did not. I cannot seem to find them anywhere. Any advice ?
I have one and it work pretty good in the car. We made the mistake of trying to use it indoors with the supplied 110v adapter. As soon as we plugged it in the player began to smoke and wires melt…Unit was about 3 months old… Will not buy another!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!! This is our second time purchasing the Venturer 8″ Dual Screen Mobile DVD System from Walmart in a matter of 2 weeks!! The first one played for all of 30 mins and the player got stuck in fast forward mode. Luckily we purchased the warranty and kept the receipt and box, so i returned to Walmart and exchanged it for another Venturer 8″ Dual Screen DVD Player in hopes that this one wasn’t going to be defective. Got it home, installed it and it lasted a couple of hours and then it FROZE!!!! I am returning the product back to Walmart and i am praying i can just get my money back and go somewhere else to purchase a different brand. I have also emailed the Venturer Company. Hopefully i will get a response.
DO NOT purchase durabrand IT’S NOT good if u see durabrand run, don’t even look it,is the most bad brand in the world. If you want to talk to a customer service representative, they will charge you for that, don’t buy it.
I bought one 3 years ago and it worked great until about 3 months ago. I was happy with my purchase!
I purchased a Ventura 7inch portable dvd player in February 2009 and it started skipping almost immediately. Now, it won’t play at all. I purchased mine at ABC Warehouse. I’ll see tomorrow if I can return it and will not purchase this brand again.
I bought a durabrand dual dvd player from Walmart for my kids for Christmas 2008…it stopped working right after vacation in June 2008…of course they stopped selling them and there’s no way of buying the parts!!! Is there anything I can do with this piece of junk!!! I paid about $150 for it!!! It’s JUNK!
Junk doesnt begin to describe what a piece of crap this company is.I have bought my son 2 of these sice Feb 2009. Both have had issues with the screens. Is there anywhere other than Wal-mart to return these and get your money back. I paid $179.00
i am not kidding you when I say this. I originally purchased these in October of 07′ they only last less than 3 months. I have exchanged these 9 times in the past 19 months. Walmart had just told me that this would be the last time I was able to exchange these. They told me that they must have been abused, I swear that these were not abused at all. The products that they sell just suck and they should not be able to sell disposable products. The sad thing is that my kids really enjoy (and help mom keep sanity) while we are on the road. I haven’t been able to find another local store that sells dual screen as well as dual players. My recommendation is not to buy them unless you don’t mind driving to walmart every 6-12 weeks to exchange them.
I read all of these negative comments and don’t understand. My mother bought my son a Venturer portable DVD player for Christmas ‘05 and it still works beautifully. We’ve moved since then and the kids love it when we drive the twelve hours to visit. It was a pretty good deal as far as I’m concerned even if it is a cheaper brand. And for those of you bashing the manufacturer — Haven’t you ever heard the old saying, “You get what you pay for?” If you don’t want to get burned buy a quality brand.
I have purchased two of the Venturer Dual Screen DVD players. The first one that we purchased from Walmart, lasted about a year and then you had to wiggle the wires to get the movies to play. We couldn’t find replacement wires so decided to buy another because we had to travel a long distance for a funeral. We bought the latest one at Sam’s Club and it only lasted 3 months. It would not recognize the majority of our childrens’ DVDs. I called the company and they sent me DVD’s that were supposed to fix the problem. Needless to say it didn’t and now we are out another $200.00. For the person who said you get what you pay for……$200.00 to me is a lot of money to spend on something that only works for 3 months. My sister-in-law also bought the same brand and her DVD players will play movies but continue to skip through the entire movie.
i also bought the dual dvd players, durabrand which also is venturer bought at walmart i need da number to reach them
Waste of money, I thought my kids had done something to it to make it stop working. I went to Walmart and they exchanged it the first time. When it stopped working again I thought it was the power cord, I bought a universal plug and it worked for a short period of time and then nothing. I had to wiggle the cord to make the second screen work. I would tell everyone to stay away from this product.
These are pieces of crap. Also this is the same company the recall is with.
Don’t know what the other people are doing. I’ve had mine for over 3 years and both still work great. even after numerous drops and bangs. The monitor i use i throw in a work bag to use at work. We even hook it up to our home tv to play dvds the expensive players wont play. dirty scratched dvd? no problem. all in all best dvd player ive owned.
don’t buy it piece of junk work for 3 months
I came on here to find a fix to a problem I am having with these pieces of junk. Guess I won’t be able to fix them so I might as well throw them out & pay a little more for something more reliable. The screen comes on & the disk will spin, but won’t play. The first one broke after a few uses. We got at least a year out of the other. Oh well….never again!
I have to say, I must be one of the few that got a good one! I bought this player over 2 years ago. It gets used DAILY and the only problem we’ve ever had is the AC power cord wore out. I’m trying to find a replacement for it now, as our player is nowhere near ready to be replaced.
We purchased the Venturer dual DVD package from Walmart and after about 4 months starting having issues with one of the players not recognizing DVDs that it had previously played. Then as time went on, the space between the DVD opening and the actual spinning DVD became inconsistant so when the DVD was playing/spinning, we heard constant noise from the friction. Thank God the whole thing was finally stolen out of my truck last week. WILL NOT replace it with another Venturer product….that’s for sure!!!
ya its horrible but mines lasted like 2 years and it still working preety good i guess i got lucky, i bought at walmart on the black friday sale
I bought the dual DVD system and I had it about 9 days and one of the players melted. So I called the 800 number to have it repaired/replaced and they told me they were going to send me a label to return the product and after I called over 2 months and 6 times they are still saying they are sending a label and blah blah blah. Called the Supervisor and got his voicemail..what a joke! I hope you read these warnings before you buy these products.
I bought a venturer portable dvd player with car kit and bag to hang over back seat, 5 years ago. It has been wonderful and I believe I got more than my monies worth out of it. It is now having difficulties with reading dvd’s, but I called the manufacturer about it, they told me to send it in with $40 and they would repair or replace it. So, I am extremely happy. I opted not to do this though because I needed another one right away and obviously this would take awhile.
Thanks for everyones comments. i was thinking of purchasing, not now. my chances of getting one that works are extremely slim. #52 Stacey S. if you had for 9 days why didn’t you return to store? to all who has one. someone mentioned a recall. you should all look into that (especially ones that MELTED) and try to get money back. Also, you can buy another one at store and return broken one with that recently dated receipt. keep doning and you’ll always have a new one.
I have one that we use for ling trips, we have had it for close to 5 years now and have never had a problem with it…I am online to find 2 more head sets for it because we will have a couple of extra kids with us this trip.
mine worked for almost three yrs and now the one screen that plays the dvd’s stoped so if anyone has one they want to sell that works and have a car charger let me know . model #pvd-722 email rmdavis2000@aol.com
thank you
I just lost our 3rd set of these. we had a 6 in set that lasted a little over a year being played nearly everyday. we bought a second set either 7 or 8 in don’t remember. the auto door on the mini van didn’t shut one night and they were gone the next morning. they worked fine for the appx 2 years we had them. I also bought a set for my sister in law and hers are still working. I then bought a 10 in set which worked awesome for another year+, until our van was broken into this past week. I am looking to get yet another set. the cost of these is awesome. i have found them to be rather reliable. we used on om our 52in flat screen as the DVD player when we first moved into our new house since the “real” DVD player remote was lost. it worked fantastic. I’ve played Xbox on the road and let my girls watch their own movie. you would have to spend more than double to get the features of Venturer from any other brand. so i am again seeking to buy another set and would encourage any one else to do the same.
Dual Screens is interesting, will have to test it out will let you know what i think.
Our player has been working for 3 years, no problem…we use it in the car all the time and occasionally in the house, too. We call it “The little dvd player that could” because even though one of the little pieces that holds the dvd in doesn’t work as well, we can still get it to work just fine.
I have a different dual screen durabrand portable dvd player that we had for almost 3 years since summer 09′, still works like a charm with no problems and we have TWO kids using it as well around the house and in the car. Take care of your sh*t and you won’t have problems. Even with other products, example, I have the iphone4 but i used the generic iphone i bought off ebay for a few months, still works now since the day i got it 2 years back.
ALSO, if you’re reading earlier comments of when things were really bad, check the date, years ago. Chances are now you won’t have that kind of problems these days with techonology, finding a fix one way or another. BUT there are those unlucky few and a handful of irresponsible people who think they get what they pay for. Be the one who spends a dollar like it’s a fortune.
