Player Problems and Warranty Issues Regarding DualDisc
Sunday December 19, 2004
Hopes for the new DualDisc format continue to slip away as a new batch of high-end CD and DVD players from makers, such as Lexicon and Proceed, report continued playback compatibility issues with the hybrid CD/DVD discs. Manufacturers are warning consumers that since the DualDisc does not carry the official CD approval from Philips on the CD side of the disc, that any damage caused by playing a DualDisc on a CD or DVD player may not be covered by a manufactuerer's warranty. What seemed like a good idea on paper, may just not be practical in real world conditions. For the latest update on this continuing story, check out the report from Audio/Video Revolution.
