Flat Screens At Rock-Bottom Prices
Tuesday February 15, 2005
It seems that every week new flat panel televisions appear on store shelves from unfamiliar brand names. In order to overcome the lack of brand-name recognition, companies such as BenQ, Syntax, and Westinghouse Digital have carved out a slice of the pie by offering their flat panel televisions at bargain prices. However, despite the attraction of lower prices for basically the same technology and performance as the more familiar, and expensive, branded units from the likes of Sony, Panasonic, and Sharp, it seems that the big names still outsell the new upstarts by quite a margin, despite higher prices. For additional perspective on this, and how this affects the consumer, check out the report from CNET/New York Times.
