Probably not anytime soon, but recent DVD sales figures indicate that a good number of films actually make more money when they are released on DVD than they did during their entire theatrical run. One example: "The Flight Of The Phoenix" made $21 million dollars in the first few weeks of its DVD release, which is more that it made during its theatrical play.
