LCD and Plasma Battle It Out

Thursday June 2, 2005
While flat panel television have become very popular due to their attractivness and descreasing prices, they are still more expensive than their traditional CRT counterparts. As a result, CRT televisions still vastly outsell both LCD and Plasma televisions. However, as continuing strides are made in both manufacturing efficiency and continued price reductions, it is expected that both LCD and Plasma will significantly increase their market penetration in the coming year. The only long-term question that remains is: Which flat panel technology will end up gaining the most favor with consumers: LCD or Plasma? Both technologies have advantages and disadvantages for consumers. For the latest on the status of the flat panel television market and what it means for the average consumer, check out the report from REUTERS.
