After 4 hours on the phone with sony, I still don’t have an answer. Do you have to burn a cd all at once? I recorded 2 tracks one day and the next day chose 2 more tracks to record with no sucess. Can I do this and how?
If you are using a CD-R disc - as long as the disc is not Finalized - you can add to the disc until it is full. Make sure you are not using the Auto-Finalization setting - if you do, then the CD will automatically be finalized after the recording session and you will not be able to add to the disc, even if it is not full.
If you are using a CD+RW disc you can also add to the disc until it is full. However, if a CD-RW has been finalized, you will have to Unfinalize it in order to add more to the disc - when the disc is full or completed, you must Finalize it again in order to play the CD in another CD or DVD/CD player.
Let me know if this info helps.

Do you have instructions on how to record from a analog source ,e.g., cassette tape deck to the CD recorder? I see the inputs for the CD recorder on the back and hooked up my cassette deck - I selected ‘analog’ on the cd recorder but it doesn’t seem to work at all - I’m also using a blank Sony CD-R cd in the ‘B’ deck as per the instructions…
I have a Philips CDR785 which has developed some problems (20 seconds after inserting a track, it stops recording for no apparent reason), and I am looking to replace it. I am considering a Sony RCD-W500C to replace it.
My CDR785 has a “silence detection” feature where if it detects 2.7 seconds (or more) of silence, it will insert a track. I haven’t been able to find if the Sony has this feature.
