20th Century Fox Sides With Blu-ray

Saturday July 30, 2005
The high definition DVD war rages on...In the latest news, 20th Century Fox has made a final decision to go with Sony's Blu-ray Disc over Toshiba's HD-DVD format for release of high definition home video content. This move surprised Toshiba, as they were hoping that they could corral the majority of the movie studios to their side. Alfter HD-DVD took an early lead in movie studio commitments, it now looks like Hollywood is becoming evenly divided between the two hi-def DVD formats. This state of affairs is sure to create more confusion in the marketplace. For more details on this, check out the report from Softpedia. Also, for further background information on the Blu-ray and HD-DVD formats, check out my article: Blu-ray and HD-DVD - What You Need To Know.
