RCA DRC8060N DVD Recorder - Product Of The Week

Friday January 27, 2006
The DRC8060N is an easy-to-use DVD recorder with practical features. Features include: DVD+R/+RW/+R DL format recording, Commercial Advance (which skips over commercials upon playback of recorded DVDs made on the DRC8060N), progressive scan, 720p/1080i upscaling through its HDMI output, and a front panel USB port for the viewing of digital photos or listening to digital music files. The DRC8060N is Divx certified and also has a built-in RF modulator, which allows connection to older TVs that do not have AV inputs. The owner's manual also does a good job of both explaining and illustrating various connection options, and what types of cables you need to connect the DVD recorder to your TV or home theater system.

(1) Pass It On says:

This a terrible product. Just read other user reviews. Unreliable:schedule a program to be recorded and don’t count on it; moreover, when that happens the DVD becomes unusable for future recording. The so-called commercial advance NEVER worked on any of the recordings that I was able to make (this supposed feature being the only reason I even bought this model); and, yes, it was properly set up to do that. Seizes up: requires unplug and reset. I have wasted so many discs and much time on this. Consequently, I have a machine that effectively functions only as a DVD player.
