Flat Panel TV War May Reveal Weak Players
Tuesday February 7, 2006
Plasma and LCD flat panel televisions are all the rage. Consumers can't seem to get enough of the stylish sets. One reason is that the marketplace is not only being flooded with flat panel sets in just about any size you can think of, but the ever increasing number of manufaturers entering the market has created an atmosphere of cutthroat competition, resulting in ever decreasing prices for consumers and thin profit margins for manufacturers.
Unfortunately, although consumers are benefiting from lower prices and an abundance of brands and models to choose from, the struggle for a strong marketshare amongst the flat panel makers is elusive. As a result, a major shakeout is expected as weak players drop out of the flat panel market. For additional details and perspective on what the future holds for both consumers and manufacturers with regards to the LCD and Plasma television market, check out the report posted by Ely Times and County.
