Cable TV Boxes Causing HDMI Conflicts

Saturday April 1, 2006
With the use of the HDMI interface becoming more common in home theater components, it seems that some conflicts are beginning to surface. In some cases, HD-cable TV boxes that use HDMI connections are not interfacing correctly with the new breed of HDMI-equipped AV receivers, resulting in video and audio signals transferred via HDMI between a cable box and AV receiver not being passed on further to an HDMI-equipped HDTV. To address this problem and outline solutions, Audioholics has put together a detailed page on the subject. This is a must-read for anyone that has HDMI-equipped home theater components and also receives their HDTV programs via Cable.

With as much entertianment as there is on tv now, it would make sense (if you have the cash) to try get the best sound and visual quality as possible. Like you said, the only problem is that some of these new systems are so different from oneanother that they will not interface correctly together. That, however, will not last as the technology proliferates.
