Blu-ray Titles Delayed

Friday May 5, 2006
Although HD-DVD has finally been introduced to consumers, delays in shipments of players and software titles has caused a backlog of orders, resulting in consumer frustration.

In the latest turn of events, it has also been announced that the initial group of Blu-ray software titles, originally scheduled for a May 23rd release, have been delayed. The reason: Sony, Samsung, and Pioneer are not expected to introduce their Blu-ray players until mid-June or later.

You would think that with these latest developments, Toshiba would take advantage of this "marketing window" and push out as many HD-DVD players and software as possible to gain the edge over Blu-ray's delay. However, with the current state of affairs, this probably won't happen, which could result in Toshiba losing the high definition DVD war once Blu-ray's marketing muscle finally kicks in.
