
While most video projectors use either DLP or LCD technology, other technologies are also in use. One example is Sony's new VPL-VW50 DLP video projector that employs a variant of LCD, known as
SXRD. The VPL-VW50 is the successor to the well-received
Sony VPL-VW100 SXRD Video Projector. The VPL-VW50 offers a full 1080p (1920x1080) native pixel resolution via 3 SXRD Chips, as well as a maximum contrast ratio of 15,000:1. The VPL-VW50 also has 2 HDMI inputs. In addition, the price of the new VPL-VW50 is about half-that of it predecessor.
