CompUSA To Close 126 Stores Nationwide

Wednesday February 28, 2007
In a surprise announcement, CompUSA, which, in recent years, has added Flat Panel Televisions and other home theater items to its traditional PC and MAC product mix, is planning to close half of its stores in a cost cutting move. This comes on the heels of the recent Circuit City store closing announcement. This trend of store closings does not bode well for consumers, as competitive buying options keep decreasing. For more details, check out the reports from The Mercury News and Playfuls.com.

Several people I know recently went into the (late) CompUSA store in Woburn, MA intending to buy computers. Each time, young sales associates were standing around shooting the breeze and wouldn’t wait on people. They finally went to CircuitCity and BestBuy where they were able to buy their computers.
