Blu-ray Adds New Level of Copy-Protection

Thursday July 5, 2007
Hackers have had a field day breaking the "unbreakable" copy-protection codes for Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs. However, this may now change, at least for the Blu-ray Disc format. The Blu-ray Disc Association has approved the implementation of a new layer of copy-protection, called BD+, for use on Blu-ray Disc releases. Studios have the option to add this new layer of protection on a disc-by-disc basis. BD+ is designed to added on top of, not instead of, current anti-copy measures. One of the key characteristics of BD+ is that it is disc specific, which makes it much harder to crack. Even if hackers figure out how to crack the BD+ copyprotection scheme, the amount of time it will take do so for each disc is expected to make the effort more hassle than its worth. We shall see... There is no word if the HD-DVD camp will take this same direction. For more details on how BD+ is implemented, check out the report from ARS Technica.

it like puting a red flag in front of a bull- if ther only s top- and lower the cost of dvd- a lot of the problem would go away
but as long as you keep the price unreal high
and
you put the red flag in front of person smarted then the one who design the copy proction
the game shall go on
