Samsung and Panasonic Take Top Spots in Worldwide Flat Panel Television Sales

Both LCD and Flat Panel Televisions are big business Worldwide (not just the U.S.) for consumer electronics manufacturers, accounting for 75% of all television shipments to retailers. The advance of HDTV, and the rapid decline in the demand for both CRT and Rear Projection televisions, has generated ever escalating sales to consumers. In the lastest published "standings", Samsung has taken over the top spot in LCD flat panel television sales, while Sony placed second. On the Plasma side of the flat panel market, Panasonic is easily the dominant market share holder, with Samsung a distant second.
