Panasonic Announces Availability of LIFI LCD Projection Televisions

Saturday August 25, 2007
One of the drawbacks LCD and DLP rear projection televisions is that, just like standalone LCD and DLP video projectors, the light source ( a type of high-powered light bulb) needs to be replaced periodically. This replacement usually needs to be done after 2,000 to 3,000 viewing hours and can cost several hundred dollars for each time the replacement bulb is needed. However, this problem may now be solved as Panasonic has implemented a new light source technology for its line of LCD projection televisions they call LIFI.

LIFI technology results in a light bulb source that has a much longer life, results in better color performance, and can quicken set start-up time. The current LIFI-equipped LCD projection sets are divided into two categories: the 720p capable LCX70 series and the 1080p capable LCZ70 series. For more details on specific models in the LCD Projection Television line-up, check out the Panasonic LIFI Television Product Page.
