Sony has added a new video projector to its line-up, the VPL-VW60. The new projector houses 3 SXRD chips (A variation of LCD technology). In terms of performance specifications, the VW60 offers full 1920x1080 native pixel resolution and can accept, and display, 1080p/60, 1080p/50, and 1080p/24 frame rate input signals. In addition, this projector offers two HDMI 1.3a inputs and a 1,000 lumen light output from a 200-watt mercury lamp. Sony also claims that the VPL-VW60 has a 35,000:1 Contrast Ratio. How this on-paper specification actually translates into real world performance remains to be seen.
