Toshiba has finally revealed its replacement for HD-DVD - the XD-E500 DVD player. Stating up front that this player does not play HD-DVD or Blu-ray discs, the claim is that the XD-E500 is an Extended Detail 1080p upscaling DVD player with HDMI output. In addition, the XD-E500 offers additional enhancement of the video output signal via more precise control over sharpness, color, and contrast.
