New Firmware Update Now Available For Toshiba HD-DVD Player Owners

Yes, the above headline is correct. Even though the HD-DVD format was officially discontinued earlier this year (2008), there are still HD-DVD player owners out there (including myself). As a result, Toshiba is continuing its support of these owners with periodic firmware updates for their HD-DVD players. The latest update is ver. 4.0 and is now available for direct download or order at the Toshiba Firmware Update Information Page. The firmware update is applicable to all Toshiba HD-DVD players still in use.

Update 7/15/11: For inquiries on Toshiba HD-DVD player firmware or other issues, click on this link and in "Choose Category" - select DVD and Blu-ray - then in "Choose Family" select HD-DVD Players

The link is dead. No more downloads I suppose.

Since the blog was posted in 2008 and HD-DVD has been discontinued over two years ago already – the link is probably dead by this point – However, you might check with Toshiba tech support to see if there are any firmware updates you may have missed.
