First off, the TIVO-HD XL is part of the class of products known as DVRs (Digital Video Recorder). A DVR records video on a hard drive rather than on a DVD or video tape. The TIVO HD XL can work with analog or digital cable, as well as with an over-the-air antenna (and is DTV Transition ready). (NOTE: The TIVO-HDXL will not work with Satellite). In addition, the consumer can record two HD channels at the same time, or an analog and HD channel. Here are some more highlights of the TIVO-HD XL:
The TIVO HD XL can record up to 150-hours of HD programming on its built-in 1 Terabyte hard drive. You can also copy your favorite non-copyprotected recordings from the hard drive to a DVD recorder or VCR using the standard resolution composite or S-video output.
Recordings made on the HD XL can be scheduled by time or title. You can even schedule your TIVO to record an entire season of a specific show (Season Pass).
The TIVO HD XL offers both analog and HDMI outputs, as well as digital and analog audio outputs. This is great for connecting to an HDTV and Home Theater System.
The TIVO HD XL interface and service is very easy to use and provides a great alternative from VCR or DVD Recording.
The TIVO HD XL can also be connected to your home PC-network for access to more video and audio content, including Amazon Video on Demand, Rhapsody, Internet Radio and Podcasts, and allows sharing of home videos with other TIVO owners via the internet.
