HDTV Broadcasters Assail Cable Operators Over HDTV Image Quality

As the DTV transition gets closer and more consumers own HDTVs, there is a brewing controversy as to whether HD-Cable subscribers are really seeing the whole picture, with regards to HDTV broadcast signals that are passed through cable systems. Due to the limitations of physical cable space, Cable operators are using several techniques that broadcasters claim do not provide an HDTV image to the viewer as it is intended to be seen.
