The task being undertaken by OPPO now, is to also include Profile 2.0 (BD Live), on board decoding for DTS-HD Master Audio, and DVD-Audio playback compatibility. These features may be included by the time the product is released to consumers (possibly in January 2009), or added via direct downloadable firmware upgrades. What makes all this significant to the consumer is with Denon just having announced their Profile 2.0, SACD, DVD-Audio compatible flagship Blu-ray Disc player at a $3,800 price point, the OPPO BDP-83 may be offering those features at a much lower $600 or less price point.
