As I have previously reported, even though the Japanese CE companies have not seen fit to make standalone Blu-ray Disc recorders available to the U.S. consumer, they are a becoming a big hit in Japan. According to the latest information, standalone Blu-ray Disc recorders are now accounting for as much as 50% of the video recorders now sold in Japan.
