Sony To Enter "Low-End" LCD TV Market

Sony is probably the most recognizable name in Televisions, but the Sony brand name, and the extra price it carries with it, isn't doing as well in the current economic climate. Taking a page from current top U.S. TV seller Vizio, Sony has decided to gamble on what it perceives as the "low end" of the market with a new line of budget-priced "B Series" LCD sets. Although specifications and retail outlets for the "B Series" have not been announced, my guess is these sets will not feature 120Hz refresh rates, LED backlight, or media player technologies, which are being implemented in some mid-range and many higher-end sets. To find out more details, and how it may affect consumers, check out the report from Digitimes and Electronista.
