Vancouver Olympics To Be In High Definition and Surround Sound

Beginning on Tuesday, February 12th, NBC, supported by equipment provided mostly by Panasonic, will go all out with its high definition broadcast coverage of the 21st Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada. In addition, NBC will also employ more use of 5.1 channel surround sound for many live events.

The opening ceremonies and the background footage of the locations around Vancouver should be stunning in high definition, not to mention the incredible detail of the athletes themselves on those expected high definition close-up camera shots. The Vancouver games should be HDTV heaven.

For more details, check out a great overview of NBC's planned Olympics schedule. In addition, for everything else you need to know about the Vancouver Games make a visit to both NBC's Olympics Site and About.com's Winter Olympics Site. The Winter Olympics in Vancouver officially begins on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 7:30pm ET/PT with the expected lavish opening ceremonies. The games conclude on Sunday, February 28th.
