In a previous report, I provided an overview of Sharp's New Quattron LCD TV line, which adds a fourth color element (yellow) to the traditional red, green, and blue primary color standard. Sharp's goal is to widen the LCD TV color gamut.
Now it appears that Sharp is taking the next step, with the announcement of its first Quattron LCD TV to also include 3D technology. Also, by incorporating additional technologies to improve brightness, as well as being able to reproduce a wider range of color, Sharp claims that its Quattron 3D TV displays a better 3D image that its competitors. The new 3D sets will be available in Japan beginning in May (2010), but are expected to make their way to U.S. shores later this year. For more details, check out the reports from TWICE and Akihabara News.

3D Movies in theaters rocks. The new New Quattron LCD TV will be great.
I’m interested, but I’d like to know what about it makes the 3D better. Is it simply the added yellow which brings more color, so therefore they claim better 3D? Or is actually better 3D for some other reason?
