The Art of Flight follows the true-life quest of filmmaker Curt Morgan, snowboard champion Travis Rice, John Jackson, Mark Landvik, and friends as they challenge some of the most extreme snowboarding runs in the world. Filmed over a period of two years in HD video, this film was mastered for Blu-ray by Dolby Labs using the Professional Reference Monitor. As a result, this disc is one of the most fantastic visual feasts possible on a TV screen. Detail, color, and depth are spectacular. In fact, the depth is so good, you will think you are watching 3D (rest assured, this film was not shot in 3D). Also, in addition to pristine video, the audio is deftly mastered in Dolby TrueHD 7.1 with active surround channels that complement the video well.
Playing and viewing this Blu-ray discs, I was immediately drawn into the action and danger faced by the participants. However, in addition to the danger faced by the snowboarders, you will be amazed by the perilous situations encountered by the helicopter pilots in the treacherous mountain terrain and perilous weather conditions.
You will definitely come away not only with a greater appreciation of snowboarding and expert filmmaking, but few Blu-ray Disc releases have looked this good - highly recommended.
