CES 2012 - TVs Get Bigger, Wider - Projectors Get Smaller

CES is the place to spot consumer electronics trends and this year is no exception. In TVs, the hype has been for the big screen OLED TVs shown off by both LG and Samsung, and LG and Vizio both had 84-inch 4K LCD TVs on display, but that wasn't all. At last year's CES Vizio also displayed several TV prototypes sporting very wide 21:9 aspect ratios, and they were back again with more refined units that are expected to finally reach the market later this year. It will be interesting to see how consumers react to the sets.

Also, on the video projector front, there was an explosion of small, very portable video projectors with increased light output that are getting closer to what would work in a home theater environment. However, the big benefit is that you have the ability to easily take these projectors on the road and set up a fun viewing experience in a small hotel or dorm room, and are also great for on-the-road business meetings - even if you just have a white wall surface to project on.
