Target joins the highly competitive internet streaming market with its new public release of its Target Ticket movie and tv streaming and download service.
Target is using a similar Pay-per-view model like Walmart's Vudu, Best Buy's CinemaNow, and Amazon's Instant Video services, instead of the monthly subscription model used by Netflix and HuluPlus.
The service allows streaming and downloading to compatible devices (includes Android, iOS, xBox, and Roku - with TVs coming soon).
Target claims that users can currently access about 30,000 titles.
To get things started, Target is offering 10 free titles to those that have, or create, a new UltraViolet Account, and is also offering additional discounts to to Target Debit Card, RedCard, and Visa cardholders.
For all the details on the service, check out the Target Ticket Home Page and FAQs.
With all the streaming services available that offer most of the same content, including the recent entry of Redbox into the streaming market, it will be interesting to see if all of them can stick it out for the long haul.
