The most aggressive exhibitor, by far, was LG. The Korean-based manufacturer, capitilizing on its success in the Cell Phone and Appliance market in the U.S., was on hand to stake a claim to the Flat Panel television market as well. From the moment you landed at the Las Vegas Airport, to signs inside taxis and on buildings, LG was everywhere. This is the brand name to watch for in 2004. Philips was on hand to display its Flat Panel Televisions and DVD Recorders. Featured was the first DVD recorder from Philips with a built-in hard drive feature.

Not to be outdone by anyone, Panasonic was on hand to introduce a new line of flat panel televisions, dubbed Viera.

In addition, Panasonic, the first to introduce a DVD recorder in the U.S. market several years ago, has expanded its offerings in this area coniderably. On display were the currently available DMR-E100H DVD/HDD recorder combo (above left), as well as its new DMR-E75V DVD/VHS recorder combo (above right) that allows VHS-to-DVD dubbing within a single unit.
Panasonic DVD recorders employ the DVD-R/RAM formats.

InFocus, known mostly for its moderately-priced DLP video projectors, displayed an impressive 61-inch DLP rear projection television with an extremely thin 7-inch deep profile.
