TV combo units are increasing in popularity. Based on the success of its 27" TV/VCR/DVD combo unit from last year, Panasonic releases two more models in 20" and 27" sizes.

Pioneer displays its prototype Blue-Laser High Density Optical Disc System. The resulting images produced by this unit were breathtaking, but will not be available for the consumer market for some time.

I was assured by Pioneer that the Blue-Laser prototype was a fully functional unit and was allowed to photograph the actual disc drive. Note the blue laser reflections on the disc.

Plasma TV was everywhere, and in every conceivable arrangement, as evidenced by this Pioneer wall-of-plasma.

Pioneer debuts its second-generation DVD-RW recorder, the second entry into the DVD format war.

Philips pulls out all the stops with new products with the introduction of its DVD+RW recorder, Multi-Channel SACD player, and its new Internet Radio Minisystem.
