System Setup
From MONTUORI1:
I'm sure that I'll have many more questions, but right now as we try to set up our existing TV, receiver, DVD player and VCR with a new Boston Acoustics 9000 II speaker system, we are stumped as to where to hook the cable (as in cable TV) to? None of the books mention that. The only place for a coaxial cable on our receiver says it's for FM reception. Do we hook it to the TV? The VCR?

FROM THE MAILBOX
From Jessie:
My problem is similar to the ones that you have written about but I am looking at trying a different solution. The problem is that my 36in TV does not have audio-out connections. I would like to play the TV sound through my DVD surround sound system but without the audio-out, as you already know, it can not be done. At the present time, I am going through my VCR from the TV to the DVD system. This works great but the problem is that I have a VCR that shuts off after 2 hrs if there is not a playing tape in the VCR. The solution that I would like to try is using a A/V receiver and routing everything through it. Is this possible? The A/V receiver would have to have a coaxial connection to hookup the cable but how do I go about connecting everything else to the A/V receiver? I would like the VCR to go through the receiver also. I would like to set the system up so that the only time I would have to turn the VCR was to play a tape. Thank you for any solutions or light that you can shed on this problem.
From Your Guide:
Everything can be routed through the AV receiver, except for a coaxial cable for TV signals -- one solution, if you are on cable or satellite and the decoder box has AV outputs -- you could rout that through the AV Receiver.
