Weekly Site Roundup (12/09/02)

ARTICLE SPOTLIGHT
Top Picks: 36-Inch TVs
You need a new TV, but 27-inch sets are too small, projection sets are too big, and the new 16x9 sets just don't quite suit your tastes. You can still get the benefits of big screen viewing combined with the latest technology in a 36-inch 4x3 direct-view TV. Check out several of my favorites.

PRODUCT OF THE WEEK
Panasonic DVD-RV32K DVD Player
Panasonic's latest entry level DVD player has some great features such as high speed disc scanning, a virtual surround mode that creates a surround environment with just two speakers, and output for a powered subwoofer (Bass Plus). This unit will also play CDs encoded with MP3 or WMA files. Of course, the video performance is great; available in either Black (RV-32K) or Silver (RV-32S).

FROM THE MAILBOX
From Pam:
I'm so confused! I bought a Hitachi 43 inch 16:9 Widescreen Digital projection TV on Sunday. Of course the salesman said It's ready for the future and HD. Is he right? I don't want to have to buy another TV in 2006.

From Your Guide:
Your TV is an excellent unit -- but it does not have an integrated HDTV Tuner built-in (in fact most HD-capable sets don't) -- this simply means that you can add an HD tuner at a later date -- also, if you subscribe to an HD cable or satellite service -- the tuner they supply would also do the job as well.

The fact that your TV does not have an integrated HDTV tuner is not necessarily a disadvantage -- as standards and components improve, you have the ability to attach the best available tuner when needed.

FINAL WORDS

Holiday News! It's that time of year once again. First, check out my annual Holiday Shopping Survival Guide, then, check in every week for a new holiday shopping article or top product picks. If you have any suggestions, just send me a line.

Although I update this site regularly, sometimes I miss broken links, this is especially a concern as old product listings expire and new ones have different link addresses. If you encounter any broken links in my articles or listings, just bring it to my attention so I can correct the address or delete it from the site if it has expired and can no longer be accessed.

Lastly, I would like your feedback on this Weekly Site Update Page. If you have any comments, either positve or negative, just let me know.
