How Long Will A New Sony Projection TV Last?
From MOVIEBUFF30:
I just bought a Sony 2003 KP Series projection TV, what is the life on projection TVs of this quality?

FROM THE MAILBOX
From Bill:
I have a question about making my 53-inch widescreen TV's speakers the center channel for my audio system. I have a Yamaha receiver which has preouts for all the channels, I was thinking that I could run a cable out of the preout and in to the TV with a Y connector, so that the TV would only receive the center channel signal from the receiver. The TV would amplify the preout from the receiver. Some projection TV's have a center channel input, mine does not. please let me know if that will work.
From Your Guide:
Technically, it can work. However, it is inadvisable to use the speakers in your TV for the center channel -- the reason is that the center channel needs to have the same characterstics or closely matched to the left and right speakers. Since the dialog is anchored in the center channel as well as center action effects -- the center channel needs to have the same frequency range and efficiency as your left and right channels -- otherwise the left and right channel speakers will overwhelm the output from the center channel. The amplifier in the TV does not have the same wattage output as the receiver over the same frequency range. Your best best is to buy a good...center channel speaker -- it will be more pleasing to listen to.
