FROM THE HOME THEATER FORUM
Indoor Television Antenna
From MICHLEEWA:
Hi. My husband and I are looking for an indoor television antenna so that we can get our local NBC station. (We're blocked out on DirecTV). Anyway, we know nothing about antennas and am wondering if someone out there can give us some advice. Which antenna (type/brand) is the best and where can we buy it.

FROM THE MAILBOX
From Rich:
TIVO vs DVD Recorders.
I know it is not "T-voo" (TIVO) but hopefully you know what I mean. Are they the same? I hope not, because the DVD recorders seem to cost a lot more.
From Your Guide:
TIVO (and its competitor - ReplayTV) record video exclusively on a hard drive rather than DVD or videotape. Once the hard drive fills up you either have to erase the contents or copy your recordings onto a VCR (or a DVD recorder). The amount of time you can record is limited by the size of the hard drive. Basic units are less expensive than a DVD recorder -- however, there are more expensive units as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you buy a TIVO-type video recorder you must also pay a monthly subsription fee for the accompanying programming service, which allows you to record your programs by topic, time, or title - in the long run, you will pay about the same for either a TIVO or a DVD recorder.

I realize this is a brief answer -- if you need more specifics, let me know.

A Special Reminder: Although I update this site regularly, sometimes I miss broken links, this is especially a concern as old product listings expire and new ones have different link addresses. If you encounter any broken links in my articles or listings, just bring it to my attention so I can correct the address or delete it from the site if it has expired and can no longer be accessed.
