ARTICLE SPOTLIGHT
Region Codes: DVD's Dirty Secret
The DVD world is divided into six regions. According to some, this is a means of providing copyright protection and preserve international film distribution arrangements, as well as prevent "illegal" copying. However, is it also a plot by movie companies to command higher prices for DVDs overseas? (Revised for 2003)

How To Hook Up A CD Recorder...
From BLARIC2003:
I have a question about hooking up a cd recorder to my stereo system. Basically, I cannot see how to hook up all my eqpt so they all work together at the same time. I have a Sony STR-DE305 receiver, a Sony cassette deck, a Pioneer PD-M430 cd changer, a Optimus equalizer, and also an older Pioneer turntable. I would like to purchase a CD recorder that is capable of recording LP's from my turntable and cassettes from my cassette deck. After reading about CD recorders, it looks like I need to hook up the CD recorder to my receiver's tape inputs...currently my equalizer is plugged there. My CD player is plugged into the receiver via the RCA CD inputs, cassette deck via the equalizer RCA inputs, my turntable via the RCA phono inputs, and the EQ via the receiver's tape monitoring RCA inputs. I have two pairs of empty RCA inputs left on my receiver, TV and video inputs that I'm not using.

How do I install a CD recorder to this mix and still have the ability to listen/record from cassette and CD player? My cd player only has two RCA jacks, no digital or optical outputs, that are attached to the receiver's RCA CD inputs.

From SANDMAN:
HELLO COULD YOU PLEASE E-ME THE DEFINITION OF VHS? THANK YOU.
From Your Guide:
VHS stands for Video Home System. Technically it can also stand for Vertical Helical Scanning -- which is the how the video is actually recorded.
