HDTV Line Doubling
From TIGERASPECT:
Here's what I'd like to do: Hook up my (basic) RCA DircTV satellite receiver to an HDTV (which I'm still researching). No HDTV converter box planned. Question: In YOUR opinion, will the picture be appreciably better using the line-doubling feature of the TV, which is supposed to upconvert analog to 480p? Will it (the TV) appreciably improve clarity, when I surf the internet with my WebTV receiver? Maybe the benefits would be too marginal to upgrade my TV for these applications considering what an HDTV costs. I would appreciate your input & experience.

From Joe:
Good article Robert (on Budget DVD Players). The problem as I see it is that out of the ten dvd players you mentioned none of them seem to have both SACD and progresive scan outputs. At this stage of the game you think both options on one machine would have become quite common but alas I haven't yet seen a one.
From Your Guide:
The current article is a listing only for BUDGET DVD players -- and I have posted my favorites -- I will have another list towards the end of the year on higher priced players that include more advanced features, such as progressive scan with SACD or DVD -Audio
In fact, two of my favorite DVD players in this area are:
Pioneer DV-47A DVD/CD/SACD/DVD-Audio player with progressive scan

Sony DVP-NS900V DVD/CD/SACD Player

Let me know if you need more info.
FINAL WORDS
Although I update this site regularly, sometimes I miss broken links, this is especially a concern as old product listings expire and new ones have different link addresses. If you encounter any broken links in my articles or listings, just bring it to my attention so I can correct the address or delete it from the site if it has expired and can no longer be accessed.
