27-inch Flat Tube TVs: Top Picks
Big screen and Plasma televisions have been getting all the attention lately, but for those that don't have the room or the budget, there is a whole category of high-performance 27" screen size TVs. Here are some of my current favorite picks.

3:2 Pulldown...

What exactly does this (3:2 Pulldown) mean and how does it affect my decision when it comes to purchasing a home theater projector?

FROM THE MAILBOX
From RR:
I've been getting a lot of spam lately claiming that I can convert my regular TV to a big screen projection TV for $30 or so in under an hour.

(Example: http://www.yourownbigscreen.com/)

Is this for real, or just a scam to get my credit card number? I can't seem to find any information on the net except these ads. Nobody seems to have a "hey, I did this cool thing to my TV" comment on a blog or anything.

From Your Guide:
Basically, systems like these use your TV picture tube as an image projection tube -- the problem is that your standard TV picture tube cannot generate enough light at a distance to project a high contrast image onto a screen -- also, since you don't have separate projection tubes for each primary color -- color accuracy would also lessen at a distance. Also, your side-to-side viewing angle is limited due lack of proper light disperson. Lastly, even if all of the other factors were eliminated -- the resolution of the projected image from a standard size picture tube (unless you are starting out with an HDTV picture tube - with an HDTV signal source) would be fairly low once projected onto a large screen.

BTW -- These systems have been around since the 50's -- if they were that good, just about every one would have one.
