Maxx Home MiniWoofer - Product Review
Subwoofers come in many sizes, but, with the trend towards more compact audio and home theater systems, the traditional big-box subwoofer can be asthetically undesirable. However, new technologies are shrinking the physical size of subwoofers. This has enabled a new generation of small subwoofers for use with multimedia, compact audio systems, and televisions. Check out my review of the Maxx Home MiniWoofer.

PRODUCT OF THE WEEK
Sony KV-30HS510 16x9 Direct View HD-upgradable Television
If you haven't made the jump to widescreen television, you might want to check out the Sony KV-30HS510. This model is packed with features, including a DVI-input for digital direct High Definition video sources, as well as a memory stick slot for viewing digital still photos made with Sony Cybershot digital cameras. Its widescreen 16x9 Wega flat tube is perfect for viewing widescreen DVDs. In addition, this unit also boasts dual NTSC tuners, digital upconversion of analog video sources to near-HD quality, and SRS Tru-surround for those that do not have a separate surround sound system. This set may be a little pricier than other 30-inch models from other makers, but it is well worth the money.

FROM THE HOME THEATER FORUM
DV Playback Machine Demand But No Supply
From SFRANDYS:
Just signed up becuase the latest newsletter really touched a 'hot' button. Why on earth has there not been a machine that will simply plays back DV tapes - much like a VCR does? Not asking for recording just play back. I don't want to be using my recorder for this task. I want to have a component I can add to my home sytem that does this simple job. I think someone would devlope this for market, at a modest price. 'huff - huff- huff'.

FROM THE MAILBOX
From Marc:
I’m looking to buy a DVD-Recorder (specifically the Pioneer DVR-510h-s). It says you can transfer digital camcorder video over i.Link. I have a Sony Camcorder with Digital8 and wondering if this will transfer or is this capability only limited to DV formats? (I assume the later which is a bummer but I thought I would ask).

From Your Guide:
Although your camcorder is Digital8, the signal recorded on the tape is the same signal that is recorded onto miniDV tape -- in essence -- you can hookup your camcorder to the iLink input on the Pioneer and copy your videos onto either the Pioneer's hard drive or direct to DVD.
