Pictured on this page is a close-up of the two HDMI input connectors and one HDMI output for connecting DVD, Blu-ray Disc, HD-DVD, HD-Cable or Satellite boxes that have high defintion/upscaling capability. The HDMI output connects to an HDTV. HDMI also passes both video and audio signals.

However, it must be noted that the HDMI connections on the AVR147 are audio and video pass-through to an HDTV only.

This receiver does not have the ability to access audio portion of the HDMI connections, requiring the user to also connect either digital or analog audio connections from the HDMI source component (such as a DVD player) to access audio signals for reproduction by the receiver.

In addition, the AVR147 does not have the ability to convert or upscale analog video signals to the HDMI output.

Lastly, in order to access the on-screen menu and setup functions of the AVR147, the user must also connect either the Composite or S-Video monitor output connection(s) to a Television.
