The TV is everywhere in our households. Now, with the advent of new technologies, the TV has taken on a new identity in the form of the TV Combo. Although the TV combo concept has been with us for some time, the concept has evolved into an LCD form factor that include built-in DVD players. Such units are great for locations such as the office, dorm room, recreation room, kitchen, or bedroom. Check out my current favorites. These new hi-tech TV combos also make great gifts for holidays and other special occasions, including back-to-school.
1. Toshiba 22LV506 LCD Flat Panel TV - DVD Player Combination
The 22LV506 combo features a compact 22-inch LCD television with built-in NTSC/ATSC/QAM tuner that can receive current over-the-air and analog cable programing as well as over-the-air and unscrambled HD cable programming. Also featured is a built-in slot-loading DVD progressive scan player, plus HDMI, Component, and analog video inputs for connecting additional devices, such as a Blu-ray, DVD Recorder, or VCR. You can also use this combo as a PC monitor via its VGA monitor input. This unit is great for bedrooms, offices, or dorm room. 2. Sharp LC-26DV22U 26-inch LCD TV/DVD Combination
Start with a Sharp 26-inch LCD HDTV with 1366x768 native pixel resolution and a 1,200:1 contrast ratio, and NTSC/ATSC/AQM tuners, then add a progressive scan DVD/CD player, put it all in one cabinet, and you have a great space-saving one-piece home entertainment system. In addition, the DVD/CD player also has digital optical output for optional home theater audio hookup and the TV has additional input options, including HDMI and VGA. You gotta check this one out. Great for a second room or group living setting, such as a dorm common room or fraternity house.3. Westinghouse Digital SK-26H590D 26-inch LCD TV/DVD Combination
The Westinghouse SK-26H590D is a 26-inch flat panel LCD television combined with a DVD Player that offers DVD-Video, DVD-R, CD, and CD-R/RW playback. This unit is also equipped with additional AV inputs, including HDMI, as well as both digital optical and analog audio outputs for connection to a home theater system. Also, the SK-26H590D also comes equipped with a built-in ATSC/QAM tuner, which allows direct reception of the digital over-the-air and digital unscrambled cable channels; analog over-the-air broadcasts will end on June 12, 2009. The Toshiba 19LV506 is a great LCD TV/DVD combo, with features such as a 19-inch 16x9 screen and a DVD player with DVD-Video/CD/CD-R/CD-RW/VCD/DVD-R/-RW playback, both analog and digital audio outputs, and a PC monitor input. In addition, the 19LV506 offers another useful feature: A built-in ATSC/QAM tuner, in addition to a standard analog TV tuner. This feature will enable the 19LV506 receive over-the-air digital signals and unscrambled digital cable channels without the need for an external converter box. Analog television broadcasting is scheduled to end on June 12, 2009.5. Sylvania LD155SL8 15-inch LCD TV/DVD Player Combination
Wouldn't it be nice if you could have a small TV with built-in DVD player? The Sylvania LD155SL8 fills the bill. This is a 15-inch stereo LCD TV/DVD combo with tiltable screen, 4x3 aspect ratio, and 1024x768 native pixel resolution. The DVD player is fully functional, including digital audio output for DTS/Dolby Digital surround sound. One downside is a lack of an HDMI input. However, this is a very good package, despite its size. With this unit and a small surround system you can have your own mini-home theater in a space as small as a Dorm room or Kitchen.6. Toshiba 32LV67 32-inch LCD TV - DVD Player Combination
When you think of a TV Combo, you usually think of a 19 or 20-inch set combined with a VCR or DVD player. However, the 32LV67 combo features a larger 32-inch LCD HDTV, with 1366x768 native pixel resolution, that is a great size for small living room.
