The TV is everywhere in our households. Now, with the advent of new technologies, the TV has taken on a new identity in the form of the TV Combo. Although the TV combo concept has been with us for some time, the concept has evolved into an LCD form factor that include built-in DVD players. Such units are great for locations such as the office, dorm room, recreation room, kitchen, or bedroom. Check out my current favorites. The LCD TV side offers a large 46-inch screen, full 1920x1080 (1080p) native pixel resolution, excellent contrast ratio, and 120 Hz screen refresh rate. The included Blu-ray Disc playback section offers BD-Live access as well as DVD and CD compatibility. Also featured is a built-in slot-loading DVD progressive scan player, plus HDMI, Component, and analog video inputs for connecting additional devices, such as a Blu-ray, DVD Recorder, or VCR. You can also use this combo as a PC monitor via its VGA monitor input. This unit is great for bedrooms, offices, or dorm room. In addition, the 19LV506 offers another useful feature: A built-in ATSC/QAM tuner, in addition to a standard analog TV tuner. This feature will enable the 19LV506 receive over-the-air digital signals and unscrambled digital cable channels without the need for an external converter box. Analog television broadcasting is scheduled to end on June 12, 2009.
