Guide Review - Shakira: Oral Fixation Tour - Blu-ray Disc Review
This Blu-ray disc contains a live concert performance by Shakira shot in Miami, Florida, in 2006. Shakira's performance is solid and the production is very straightforward, spotlighting her musical and physical talents and not getting lost in over-produced special effects or production numbers. In addition, the concert footage also spotlights the interactivity and rapport between Shakira and her audience.
With regards to the Blu-ray aspects of the disc, the detail was excellent overall, but depending on what lighting and camera was used in a particular shot, there were some instances of inconsistent detail, but nothing that distracted from the overall high-def presentation.
The best examples of high-def detail were the sequins on Shakira's costumes, as well as the wide shots of the audience, in which you could really see individuals, and not just a blob of humanity. Also, in the grand finale, you can see the confetti in such tight color and good detail, that is was tempting to start counting the individual pieces as they floated down.
It must also be noted that the use of good black level settings during the production and mastering process really showed through in the final result.
In addition to the very good video transfer, was the excellent audio transfer. The Uncompressed PCM 5.1 channel option provided excellent clarity and depth throughout the performance.
The one option I wish would have been provided would be optional English Subtitles for the Spanish language songs, and Spanish Subtitles for the English Language songs.
