This photo shows a close-up view of the connections on the BDP-95FD. Starting from left to right, are the IR in/out connections and wired control connection. These connections allow more effecient integration of the DV-983H within a custom home theater installation with a central remote control system.

Moving to the right is the HDMI connection. HDMI allows you to access the full 1080p video resolution and both bitstream and uncompressed PCM audio from Blu-ray Discs. In addition 720p, 1080i, 1080p upscaled images from standard commercial DVD can also be accessed via this connection.

Moving to the right of the HDMI connection is the Ethernet connection. This connection allows you to connect the BDP-95FD directly to the internet for access to firmware updates, and also to a home network made of up a PCs or Media Servers for access to stored still images, video, or audio files.

Next, to the right of the Ethernet connection, there are three more types of video output connections offered. The yellow connection is the Composite, or standard analog video output. Just below the Composite video output is the S-Video output. If you have an HDTV the composite or S-video connections are not required, or advisable, as they cannot pass progressive scan or upscaled video.

To the right of the analog video output connections is the Component Video output. This output consists of Red, Green, and Blue connectors. These connectors plug into the same type of connectors on a TV, Video Projector, or AV receiver.

Still moving right, both a Digital Coaxial and Digital Optical audio connection. Either connection can be used. Check your Home Theater Receiver for the type that you have access to.

to the far right right, are the multi-channel analog audio output connections. These connections allow access to the internal surround sound decoders, or uncompressed PCM audio coming from Blu-ray discs played on the BDP-95FD.

Finally, on the far right, is a set of analog 2-channel stereo output connections.
