In this photo, the large portion of the image is purposely noisey to see how the DVD player's video processing can handle the image. The small inset image at the upper left is a still frame that is noise-free. As you can see, both the small image and large image look very close in this photo.
This result means that the video processor in the DV-983H is able to distinguish which parts of the image are noisely and apply the correct amount of noise reduction automatically, without affecting the rest of the image. Although the noise reduction processing is not perfect, as evidenced by the slight differences between the small and large photo, they are close enough to be considered a good result for the DV-983H.
