Shown here is what separates the DV-983H from most DVD players, the Anchor Bay ABT1018 video processing chip. This chip, in conjunction with the other circuitry on the Anchor Bay/OPPO video processing board, provides precision deinterlacing, scaling, noise reduction, and frame cadence detection needed to send high quality 720p, 1080i, or 1080p upscaled DVD images to an HDTV via the HDMI output.
