Seagate FreeAgent Theater+ HD Media Player - Review
Previously, I reviewed the Seagate FreeAgent Theater hard-drive based media player. Now, Seagate has introduced an updated version, the FreeAgent Theater+, that not only allows playback of audio, video, still image files stored on a portable hard drive, USB flash drives, and many Digital Still cameras, but also adds 1080p output via HDMI, and home networking/internet access via ethernet. Onkyo HT-RC160 7.2 Channel Home Theater Receiver with Dolby Pro Logic IIz
The Onkyo HT-RC160 Home Theater Receiver offers lots of features and good audio performance in an affordable package. With built-in HDMI switching, analog to HDMI video conversion and up to 1080i video scaling, on-board Dolby TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio decoders, Dolby Pro Logic IIz processing, iPod connectivity, and an excellent automatic speaker setup system, the Onkyo HT-RC160 is worth a look and a listen. Yamaha RX-V557 XM-Enabled 6.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver - Short Review
AV receivers in the $300 - $500 price range now provide performance and flexibility that was once reserved for much higher-priced units. Having had a chance to use the Yamaha RX-V557, I must say that it is an excellent value, with the added bonus of XM Satellite Radio capability. For those wishing to get into home theater with a good performing entry-level AV receiver that is priced reasonably, consider the RX-V557 as a possible choice. Sherwood Newcastle R-972 Receiver With Trinnov Audio Optimizer - Short Review
The Sherwood Newcastle R-972 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver is an affordable high-end home theater receiver. This receiver delivers a strong power output, and features Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio processing. This receiver also has 4 HDMI inputs, and features multi-zone operation with two remote controls. Insignia NS-2BRDVD Blu-ray Disc Player - Short Review
The Insignia NS-2BRDVD plays Blu-ray Discs at full 1080p/60 or 1080p/24 resolution, provides bitstream output for both Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD via its HDMI 1.3a output, and is fully playback compatible with standard DVDs, most recordable DVD formats, standard music CDs, and CD-Rs/RWs. Another bonus is that standard DVDs are upscaled up to 1080p via the HDMI output. The NS-2BRDVD adheres to Profile 1.1 (Bonus View) specifications. OPPO HM-31 Advanced 3-1 HDMI Switch - Product Review
An HDMI Switch is a useful product for owners of HDTVs with only one HDMI input connection. With the increased number of components equipped with HDMI connections, such as DVD players, DVD recorders, Blu-ray players, HD-DVD players, and Satellite and Cable Boxes, one HDMI input on an HDTV is no longer enough. Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 700 3LCD Video Projector - Short Review
At an MSRP of $799, the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 700 3LCD Video Projector is a very good value. With a compact design, this projector can be placed just about anywhere. The native 1280x800 native pixel resolution and 2,000 lumen output, combined with a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, provide very good image quality from high definition sources. NeoDigits Helios H4000 DVD Player with HDMI Output - Short Review

The Yamaha neoHD YMC-700 is very easy to use, while still providing necessary AV flexibility. The YMC-700 offers 5.1 channel audio processing, 3 HDMI inputs, USB, and a docking station port for iPods and Bluetooth devices. In addition, the MC700 is also WiFi enabled, allowing connection to a home network for accessing media content stored on a PC or from Rhapsody, and Internet Radio content. Vizio VSB210WS 2.1 Channel Home Theater System with Wireless Subwoofer - Review
Vizio isn't a brand you think of when considering a home theater system, but with the VSB210WS, it offers a self-contained, easy-to-use system that complements a flat panel television for an intimate, satisfying home theater viewing and listening experience. At an MSRP of $5,300.00, the DreamVision Dream'E 1080p LCOS Video Projector bucks the trend towards sub-$3,000 1080p video projectors, but is worth the extra cash. Its 3 LCOS chips, native 1080p resolution, and acceptable light output provide excellent image quality, providing a natural looking image.
