On the left side of the rear panel, you will notice the digital audio connections. There are two digital optical inputs and one digital coaxial input.
Just to the right of the digital audio connections, at the top of the left rear panel, are HD-compatible component video connections (red, blue, and green). There are three sets of inputs and one output. This enables the user to connect up to three HD source devices that use component video connections, and then connect the single component video output to a high definition Television that has component video inputs.
Continuing to the right, note the AM/AM antenna connections. The TX-SR304 has a standard AM/FM stereo tuner.
Just below the antenna connections are the connections for the traditional analog video and audio source devices, such as a VCR, CD player, etc...
In addition, you will notice a set of 5.1-channel analog inputs. These are designed for use with SACD and DVD-audio equipped players, but can also be used with DVD players that have their own built-in 5.1 channel analog outputs, becuase they have their own built-in Dolby Digital and/or DTS decoders. In other words, if a DVD player has its own 5.1 channel analog outputs, you have the option using the DVD player's own Dolby Digital/DTS decoders, or the ones built-in to the TX-SR304.
Lastly, just to right of the 5.1 channel analog audio inputs, is the Subwoofer Pre-Out. This is the connection you use to connect the TX-SR304 to a Powered Subwoofer.
