Setup - HTS-LX70
For set up, all the connections and cables are provided in the box, and are color coded, making setup easy. Without cracking open the owner's manual, I was watching a DVD in surround sound in about 20 minutes from the time I opened the box. However, if you need to use the owner's manual, it is easy to understand, with good illustrations. Also, a test tone function is provided to calibrate speaker levels. Lastly, the provided remote control, front panel display, and onscreen menus made navigating through the various setup functions very easy.

The MCACC Function
The HTS-LX70 provides an excellent tool for speaker setup: MCACC (Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System).
By way of a microphone supplied with the unit, and a built-in test tone generator that provides several types of test tones, the is able to automatically calculate the size of your loudspeakers, their distance from your listening position, and other parameters that will enable your system operate in your listening environment.
Although no automatic system can be perfect, or account for personal taste, the MCACC does a credible job of setting up speaker levels properly. The MCACC calculated the speaker distances accurately, and even adjusted the audio levels and equalization to compensate.
At the conclusion of the automatic setup process, you are able to review the settings via the LCD touchscreen remote and LED display unit. You can then make any changes of your own, if you wish.
