Is that Blu-ray Disc player you have really up to snuff? What about that expensive video scaler/processor you might have, does it really improve the image quality on your TV or video projector? With the Spears and Munsil High Definition Benchmark Disc, even the average consumer has the ability, viewing a series of tests, to find out whether or not their HDTV, Blu-ray Disc player, or an external video processor/scaler is delivering the performance that it claims to deliver on paper.
The test images shown in this gallery were produced by the Spears and Munsil High Definition Benchmark Disc as played on an OPPO Digital BDP-83 Blu-ray Disc Player using its HDMI output connected directly to a Westinghouse LVM-37w3 37-inch LCD television with 1080p native resolution. The Blu-ray Disc player was set for 1080p output so that the images displayed reflected the video processing performance of the BDP-83.
The photos in this gallery were obtained using a Sony DSC-R1 Digital Still Camera.
